Computing Curriculum Healthcheck
Our needs analysis tool helps you evaluate your school's current computing provision. Identify strengths, spot gaps, and build a clear action plan — whether you're just getting started or refining an established curriculum.
The healthcheck covers curriculum intent, implementation, and impact, aligned with Ofsted's inspection framework. It's designed for both primary and secondary settings.
Request a healthcheckThe computing curriculum healthcheck offered through this hub provides schools with a structured way to evaluate their current provision from early years through to key stage four. By examining intent, implementation, and impact, the process helps identify where teaching is strongest and where targeted support could make the biggest difference. Many schools find that even small adjustments to their curriculum sequencing or resource choices create noticeable improvements in pupil engagement and progress. The healthcheck is designed to be practical and actionable, giving leaders a clear roadmap for development without adding unnecessary paperwork or complexity.
Borrowing physical lending kits is an excellent way to bring computing concepts to life without requiring a large upfront investment in equipment. These kits typically include programmable devices, sensors, and accessories that support hands-on learning across a range of topics from simple algorithms to physical computing and data logging. Teachers can trial different resources before committing to purchases, and pupils benefit from exploring technology in a tangible, interactive way. The borrowing process is straightforward, and the hub team can offer guidance on which kits best match your school's current curriculum goals and year group needs.
Free continuing professional development lies at the heart of the support available through this hub, with courses designed to build confidence and subject knowledge for both primary and secondary educators. Sessions cover everything from foundational programming concepts to leading computing across a whole school. Generous bursaries help cover the cost of supply cover, making it feasible for teachers to attend training without placing additional strain on school budgets. Whether you are new to teaching computing or looking to deepen existing expertise, the CPD offer is structured to meet you where you are and help you move forward.
